Birch Bay is located just south of the City of Blaine. Although it would seem that Birch Bay is a city, it is technically not an incorporated city within Whatcom County. The community is working on becoming a city, but it is not quite there yet.
Birch Bay is well known for its miles of sandy beach. A very popular vacation spot in the summertime, Birch Bay is stocked with cabins and time share condominiums. There are many beachfront homes that are privately owned along the shoreline of Birch Bay.
Birch Bay Village is a gated community located on the northern edge of Birch Bay. The Birch Bay Village has almost 1,000 homes in the community. The community is designed around a small golf course and lake. There is private moorage available with some of the homes.
